Dionne Smith is an internationally sought-after celebrity and award-winning hairstylist specialising in afro and curly textures. She works across brands, editorial, research and events, red carpets and press junkets.
After 20+ years in the industry, Dionne has gained a wide range of clientele from working mothers to celebrities and well-known personalities including but not limited to Regina King, Kiki Layne, Venus Williams, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Genevieve Nnaji.
Unlike your average stylist, Dionne works her magic on natural hair, weaves and precise cuts and whilst her speciality is afro hair, she can work with all types as shown in her portfolio. She has worked with reputable hair brands, doing research, developing products, campaign photoshoots as well as education workshops.
Dionne worked with Dyson on the research and development of the Wide Tooth Comb, known in the afro community as an “Afro Pick”, which has been a huge success.
Some other brands she has collaborated with include Aveda, Noble Sleek Hair, Hair Flair, Design Essentials, Cantu Beauty, Revlon, Sta Sof Fro and ORS.
Dionne also specialises in Bridal Hair and is able to perfectly craft hair to perfection, this is evident in her bridal gallery, were you can view pictures of photoshoots she has created and real brides.
Dionne has a creative mind and is incredibly passionate about hair and thus can artistically manage and direct photo shoots and campaigns to enhance brands.
Her work has been featured in Elle, Radio Times, OK! Magazine, Ellements, Wonderland Mag, 7Hues, Blackhair Magazine, Black Beauty Magazine, Pride, Afro Stylez plus many more. Previously she had her own double-page spread in Britain leading black hair magazine, Blackhair, called “Dionne Smith’s Style Desire” where she demonstrated ways to re-create different celebrity hairstyles.
Dionne is known as a creative director, educator and influencer working with brands in a variety of ways and working to teach and educate hairstylists all over the world on the knowledge and use of products.
She is the CEO of Coiffeur Group an online hub for hair & beauty creatives which she foundered in 2019, and is also the founder of THABIA – The Hair & Beauty Industry Awards set to be the first of its kind catering to the while industry on a whole and was founded in 2020.
